How to Join

Hampton Life Saving Club is a great organisation to join, whether you want to help make Victoria's beaches safer, keep fit, compete or just come down and spend time with some great company.

We currently have about 800 members, but only 100 of that are active life savers, and we do appreciate a hand every now and then from everyone, especially on big days such as our Point 2 Point Swim, Nipper events or other major Club fundraisers.

It's a great social scene at Hampton and everyone's friendly, so why not come down and join?

Membership Subscriptions

Individual (Life) Member

This is an individual category only and is granted by the Club at an Annual General Meeting.  There are no families that are life members – hence only the individual who has been granted Life membership is free. Other family members will fall into one of the categories below.

Individual (Active patrolling) Membership

This is for an individual who is a current patrolling Lifesaver at Hampton. They must be over 15 years of age, hold a Bronze Medallion and they must re-qualify annually. It is the correct category when no other family members are joining the club. If you do not currently patrol at Hampton, then you are not eligible for this category of membership.

Family (Active patrolling) Membership

This is for a family who reside at the same address with at least one family member who is a patrolling Lifesaver at Hampton.

Family (General including Nippers) Membership

Most families will fall into this category. If you do not currently patrol at Hampton and you have not been granted Life membership by the Club you will fall into this category.

Membership Categories

Our 800 members fall into one of the following Surf Lifesaving Membership types:

• Junior Activity Member (aged 5-13) – participates in the Nippers Program at HLSC – Please note that at least one parent must also be a member of the club.
• Cadet Member (aged 13-15) – participates in either Nippers and/or YIPS at HLSC. Must hold minimum life saving qualification of Surf Rescue Certificate and requalify annually.
• Active Junior Member (ages 15-18) – participates in YIPS and/or patrols at HLSC. Must hold minimum life saving qualification of Bronze Medallion and requalify annually.
• Active Member (over 18) – a patrolling Lifesaver and/or Water Safety Officer at HLSC. Must hold minimum Bronze Medallion and requalify annually.
• Life Member – as granted by the Board and membership at an Annual General Meeting.
• General Member – any other member who does not fit the above categories (including dependent children who do not participate in Nippers or YIPS).
