How Can I Help?

Life Saving Victoria, and HLSC, require the parents of competing Nippers to be actively involved in the running of the Carnivals.

For every 5 Nippers competing at any given Carnival HLSC must provide at least one Water Safety Officer and One Surf Sports Official. Once our team blossoms past 40 Nippers there are other official requirements.

Official duties require:

  • Water Safety (you must have your Bronze Medallion - see the Training Page for more details)

  • IRB Water Safety (must have an IRB licence)

  • Surf Sports Official (you must complete a Life Saving Victoria Officials’ course and complete the required training hours at Carnivals throughout the season)

Hampton Life Saving Club also needs parents of competing Nippers to help out as Age Group Managers. These parents stay with their allocated age group and look after all the Nippers in that group throughout the day.

It is expected that, for each family, at least one parent is able to undertake one or more of these duties at each Carnival their Nipper participates in.
